Heavenly Lights

The view from the summit of Mauna Kea as the moon and Venus set over the western horizon. Visible in the image are the lights across the state...Waimea and Kawaihae in the lower right, Wailuku and Lahaina on the slopes of Haleakala's silhouette, a faint glow from Honolulu on the horizon to the left of Maui, and the glow from Kailua-Kona surrounding the pu'u, or cinder cone, on the left of the frame. The four prominent observatories from left to right are, the Subaru, the Keck twins, and the NASA IRIF. And lastly, that's a satellite streaking through the sky. So blessed to have a view like this in our backyard! Mahalo Ke Akua!!!
