Pele's Galaxy Beam

I was fortunate to be at the right place at the right time to witness a rare occasion that took place while shooting at the Hawaii Volcano National Park. This was the first time I witnessed two craters glowing at night. Halemaumau Crater in the foreground casting a light beam from the lava lake to the universe feeds lava through the tube system at Pu'u O'o, the glow in the background.
